Land Surveyors of Wyoming / Southeast Chapter have collectively
entered into an agreement for the establishment of a Continuously
Operating Reference Station (CORS) in Laramie County, Wyoming.
What is
CORS? www.ngs.noaa.gov/CORS
The participants
have dedicated their time and resources to establish the
Cooperative CORS and a point of distribution for the mapping
data.
Equipment
resources were provided as follows:
Trimble
Navigation 5700 GPS CORS station and antenna
TRS datalogging software and datalogging computer
Tribach for antenna mount
Technical knowledge of the Wyoming State Geodesist and NGS State Geodetic
Coordinator
Location

Specifications
The station consists of a Trimble 5700 dual frequency GPS receiver, a Trimble D/M choke ring antenna, and TRS v1.05 data logging software. Station operation is 24 hours a day.
A Trimble HPB450 35 watt radio broadcasts CMR+ in the TrimTalk450s mode at 9600 baud on 461.65 MHz for Real Time Kinematic (RTK) surveying. The RTK signal is available approximately from 0500 to 2000 hours local time.
Two types of files are collected. The first is a Trimble .DAT file (5 second measurement rate) posted every thirty minutes to the National Geodetic Survey where it is converted to the RINEX format. Data is available for download from www.ngs.noaa.gov/CORS.
A Trimble
mapping ssf file (5 second measurement rate) is posted hourly
to http://www.laramiecounty.com/_departments/_GIS/gps_data_24.asp.
The data is available as compressed self-extracting .exe
files.
